2011 Northwest Regional Barista Competition

Northwest Regional Barista Competition

Today marks the beginning of the 2011 NWRBC that once again will be held at the Tacoma Convention Center. We are proud to announce that Lauren Ayrey and Emily Jackson will be representing Batdorf & Bronson at this years event. They have both been diligently working out the kinks of their presentations, fine-tuning their espresso roast profiles and making modifications to their signature drinks.

Emily is our Olympia Retail Trainer and she will bring 11 years of coffee experience to the competition tomorrow. Lauren has been a barista for Batdorf & Bronson for a total of 5 years and will be entering her third NWRBC competition with a lot more culinary education than in the past. They will both be using our Nicaragua Finca Los Milagros as their espresso.

The competition will be stiff this year with a wide gamut of baristas from around the region and a total of seven from our hometown of Olympia. Go Olympia! Read the profile of each Northwest regional competitor.

Brain Meyers, Heather Ringwood, Will Frith, Jenny Huff and Marcus Young all loaded into a van at 7am this morning headed for Tacoma to take part in the Judge’s Certification Workshop and this evening’s industry Meet & Greet held at Metronome Coffee. The competition will begin tomorrow at 11am. Emily will go on second at 11:34 and Lauren’s run-through is 4:00pm.

It’s been a while. The word on the street, is that you’re back in the PNW.
Did you go to the NWRBC or were you able to watch the live stream?
