Sunday Cuppings Are Back!
We are pleased to announce the return of the monthly Sunday cuppings!
Yesterday marked the successful return of the public Sunday cuppings. Since this was the first of a series of monthly cuppings we felt it best to start with a basic intro to coffee. To that end we sort of merged our seed to cup class with a streamlined version of coffee 101. We wanted to represent the three main growing regions and the three common processing methods so we selected the Costa Rica Cerro del Fuego to represent a fully washed coffee from central America, the Sumatra Mandheling as a semi-washed from Indonesia and finally the Ethiopia Yirgacheffe Worka Co-op as a naturally processed coffee from Africa.
We had fourteen attentive and enthusiastic participants from a variety of backgrounds. Most were long time customers with an amazing knowledge of our past and present coffees. They readily shared their impressions of what they were tasting and asked some very good questions throughout the class. Some had questions about brewing methods and decaffeination processes and we were happy to inform them of future cuppings that will address those very topics.
We all had a great time and are looking forward to future cuppings! Unless otherwise notified, the cuppings will be held on the first Sunday of the month. Our next public cupping is scheduled June 5 at 1:00 pm and will cover basic brewing methods. Sound interesting? We hope to see you there!
