Rwanda Buremera MIG

Rwanda Buremera MIG

Batdorf & Bronson Coffee Roasters is proud to announce the return of our Rwanda Buremera. In the cup you will once again find flavors of pomegranate, strawberry and subtle hints of watermelon, in a clean and crisp delivery. The finish to this contemporary African offering is long and sweet.

The Rwanda Buremera is a 100% Bourbon varietal that is grown in high altitude small farms in the hills of the Buremera region (view map) of Southeast Rwanda. Approximately 1000 farmers deliver their cherries to MIG’s (Multisector Investor Group, LTD) Buremera washing station. These farmers each own an average of 200 coffee trees. Most of Buremera’s families are second- or third-generation coffee farmers. This coffee is naturally fermented and once complete, the coffee is washed 4 or 5 times before it is bathed in a spring water and then sun dried.

The Rwanda Buremera MIG coffee made a name for its self in 2008 during the first-ever Cup of Excellence competition held in Africa, where it won first place and also ranked 3rd and 9th. The group effort of the individual Buremera region farmers are obviously making an impact on the coffee world and we are excited to once again be offering the exceptional coffee from this region.

Colombia Estrella del Sur

Colombia Estrella del Sur

Our Colombia Estrella del Sur coffee stays true to its name of “Southern Star”, shining brightly among our constellation of coffees. To find it, we consistently scour Colombia’s coffee-growing regions to find the beans that exemplify the best of what the country has to offer. It is always a favorite among staff and customers.

Our current selection is an outstanding coffee from Colombia’s southwestern Cauca region. This region spans from the Pacific coast to the Central mountain range where coffee plants grow on slopes 1,450 - 2,180 meters above sea level. This altitude, combined with mountain-born waters flowing to the Cauca River, creates a microclimate that gives this coffee its distinctive flavor.

The current Colombia Estrella del Sur has a gentle acidity with a luxurious body. This gracefully balanced Colombian possesses a delicate citrus blossom bouquet and reveals soft, full flavors of vanilla and almonds with subtle hints of dried fruit.

Going Gaga For Huehue

Grounds for Health Huehuetenago

The reviews of the Grounds For Health Guatemala Huehuetenango are rolling in from B&B folks and the verdict is “double thumbs up!” We purchased this coffee in an auction to benefit Grounds For Health, an organization committed to bringing women’s health care to coffee growing communities. This limited edition coffee is available throughout the fall at our retail website, www.dancinggoats.com. For more information on the work of Grounds For Health, visit their website, www.groundsforhealth.org.

“This coffee is produced in the Huehuetenango region of Guatemala near the town of San Pedro. The coffee is grown at an altitude of 1500 meters or more and is 75% caturra with the remaining 25% being a blend of bourbon, catuai, and mundo nuevo. The climate is cold so the coffee matures slowly which results in an increased acidity with a balanced heavy body. While many Huehue coffees tend to be on the fruity side this coffee is extraordinarily sweet with heavy dark chocolate and bing cherry flavors.  The coffee is developed a little more in the drum to accentuate these delightful characteristics.” Bob Benck, Green Coffee Buyer

“Big lush body, notable sweetness, with a dry finish. Flavors of dates with a tequila-like earthiness. Mild red pepper spice. Finishes with a lingering unsweetened cocoa aspect.”  Marcus Young, Sales & Distribution

“I was amazed at the complexity, tasting dark roast and dark chocolate - especially when it was hot.  As it cooled the brightness really popped in my mouth, but simultaneously I still got all that darkness.  I’m looking forward to a bit more leisurely appreciation over the week-end and also to check out the taste a few more days out of the roaster.” Sally Califf, Customer Service
